A refreshing and aromatic Vanilla Lemonade that combines the tangy brightness of fresh lemon juice with the rich warmth of pure vanilla extract. Perfectly balanced with a homemade simple syrup, this delightful beverage is easy to make and ideal for cooling down on a warm day.

Ingredients

Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water

Lemonade

  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)
  • 1 teaspoon Nielsen-Massey Organic Fairtrade Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. Make the Simple Syrup: In a small saucepot, stir together 1 cup of water and 1 cup granulated sugar. Cook over medium heat for 4 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has fully dissolved. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the syrup stand for 10 minutes to cool slightly.
  2. Chill the Syrup: Transfer the syrup to a jar or container and refrigerate until it is completely cool, which can be done in advance and kept for up to 5 days.
  3. Mix the Lemonade: In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, cooled simple syrup, remaining 3 cups of water, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Stir well to blend all the flavors uniformly.
  4. Serve: Pour the vanilla lemonade over ice cubes and garnish with lemon slices if desired. Serve immediately for the best refreshing taste.

Notes

  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor; bottled lemon juice will alter the taste.
  • The simple syrup can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Adjust sweetness by modifying the sugar amount to taste.
  • If you prefer a stronger vanilla flavor, you can increase the vanilla extract slightly.
  • This recipe serves 4 but can easily be doubled or halved.
