This refreshing Strawberry Milk recipe combines fresh strawberries simmered with sugar and water to create a flavorful syrup that is mixed with milk for a naturally sweetened, creamy drink. Quick and easy to prepare, it's perfect as a comforting beverage or a delightful treat for any time of day.

Ingredients

Milk Base

  • 2 cups milk (unsweetened almond milk recommended)

Strawberry Syrup

  • 1/2 cup strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar (adjust as preferred)
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Milk: Pour 2 cups of your chosen milk, preferably unsweetened almond milk, into a large jug and set it aside to be mixed with the syrup later.
  2. Make the Strawberry Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries, sugar, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring regularly to prevent burning. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and cook for 10-15 minutes until the mixture thickens into a syrupy consistency.
  3. Strain and Cool: Remove the saucepan from heat and strain the strawberry mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a small bowl to remove seeds and pulp. Allow the syrup to cool slightly for 2-3 minutes before proceeding.
  4. Combine Milk and Syrup: Pour the slightly cooled strawberry syrup into the jug containing the milk. Whisk thoroughly until the syrup and milk are fully blended and smooth.
  5. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the strawberry milk until it is thoroughly chilled. Serve cold for the best flavor and refreshment.

Notes

  • Adjust the sugar quantity based on your sweetness preference or use a sugar substitute if desired.
  • Unsweetened almond milk creates a lighter, dairy-free version, but you can substitute with any milk of choice.
  • For a thicker syrup, simmer longer but watch carefully to prevent burning.
  • Straining ensures a smooth texture without strawberry seeds.
