This Pumpkin Chai Latte is a cozy, spiced beverage perfect for autumn or anytime you crave a warm, flavorful drink. Combining rich chai spices with creamy pumpkin puree and a touch of sweetness from maple syrup, this latte can be enjoyed hot or iced, making it versatile and delicious.

Ingredients

Chai Concentrate

  • 2 sachets of black tea
  • 1 cinnamon stick (or 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon)
  • 1 star anise
  • 4 cloves
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup (or brown sugar)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 180 ml water

Latte

  • 4 tbsp pumpkin puree
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice (or four-spice blend)
  • 250 ml almond milk (or cow’s milk or any plant-based milk)
  • Optional: whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  1. Make the Chai Concentrate: In a saucepan, combine the black tea sachets, cinnamon stick, star anise, cloves, cardamom pods, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and water. Heat over low heat for 5 minutes until just simmering without boiling. Remove from heat and let the mixture steep for 10 minutes to infuse the flavors fully.
  2. Strain the Concentrate: Pour the chai mixture through a fine sieve to remove the tea bags and spices, ensuring a smooth chai concentrate free of seeds and bits.
  3. Prepare the Latte: In the same or a clean saucepan, add the strained chai concentrate, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin pie spice. Stir to combine well.
  4. Heat the Latte: Add the milk to the pumpkin chai mixture and warm over medium heat until hot but not boiling, stirring frequently to blend the ingredients smoothly.
  5. Serve: Pour the pumpkin chai latte into two medium-sized cups. Optionally, top with whipped cream if desired. Enjoy immediately while hot or let cool and serve over ice for a refreshing iced latte.

Notes

  • You can substitute almond milk with any milk of your choice, including cow's milk or other plant-based milks like oat or soy.
  • Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of maple syrup or sugar to taste.
  • For a stronger chai flavor, allow the tea and spices to steep longer or use extra tea bags.
  • This latte can be served hot or iced depending on your preference.
  • Leftover chai concentrate can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and used to make additional lattes or as a flavored tea base.
