A quick and delicious smoothie bowl recipe featuring frozen berries and bananas blended into a creamy, soft-serve texture, topped with crunchy granola, hemp seeds, and fresh fruit. Perfect for a nutritious breakfast or snack in just 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries or mixed frozen berries
  • 1 cup frozen banana slices, from very ripe bananas
  • 3 tablespoons milk or nondairy milk, such as almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons almond butter, sunflower seed butter, or peanut butter (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla or unflavored protein powder (optional)

Toppings

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil, melted
  • ¼ cup granola
  • 1 tablespoon hemp seeds
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Fresh bananas, sliced

Instructions

  1. Blend the frozen fruit. Add the frozen berries and frozen banana slices to a blender and blend on low speed until the fruit breaks down into a coarse, sandy texture.
  2. Create the smoothie base. Add the milk, nut butter, and protein powder (if using) to the blended fruit. Blend on low speed, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed, until the mixture forms a thick, soft-serve consistency.
  3. Assemble and serve. Scoop the smoothie base into a bowl and drizzle the melted coconut oil over the top. Allow the coconut oil to harden for about 1 minute; placing the bowl briefly in the freezer can speed this process. Sprinkle with granola and hemp seeds, then garnish with sliced fresh strawberries and bananas before serving.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas frozen in slices for the creamiest texture.
  • For a vegan option, ensure the protein powder is plant-based and use nondairy milk.
  • Adjust the thickness by adding more or less milk depending on your preference.
  • You can substitute toppings to suit your taste, such as chia seeds, nuts, or different fresh fruits.
  • To speed coconut oil hardening, place the bowl in the freezer for 1-2 minutes.
