This Ground Beef Tacos recipe offers a quick and flavorful dinner option featuring seasoned lean ground beef cooked in a skillet and served with fresh toppings and tortillas. Perfect for a family meal or casual get-together, these tacos are easy to prepare in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Beef Mixture

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • ½ cup water

Toppings & Serving

  • 8 corn or flour tortillas
  • Lettuce, finely chopped
  • Shredded Mexican cheese blend or cheddar cheese
  • Tomatoes, chopped
  • Red onions, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil and brown beef: Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  2. Season the beef: Stir in chili powder, cumin, oregano, garlic powder, salt, pepper, tomato paste, and water. Mix well to combine all ingredients evenly. Continue to cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens and coats the beef, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Assemble and serve: Warm the tortillas as desired. Spoon the seasoned beef onto each tortilla and top with chopped lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and red onions or your preferred toppings. Serve immediately for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef for a healthier option and to reduce fat splatter during cooking.
  • Adjust chili powder and cumin amounts based on your spice preference.
  • Warm tortillas before serving to make them pliable and enhance flavor.
  • Feel free to add other toppings such as sour cream, salsa, or guacamole.
