Ingredients
For the Marinade and Shrimp
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
¼ cup olive oil
¼ cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
¼ cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
Pinch cayenne pepper (adjust to spice preference)
Instructions
Make Marinade: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, finely chopped cilantro and parsley, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper until well combined to create a flavorful marinade.
Marinate the Shrimp: Place the peeled and deveined shrimp into a bowl and pour about three-quarters of the prepared marinade over them. Toss gently to coat all the shrimp evenly, then cover the bowl and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour to allow the flavors to penetrate.
Thread Shrimp on Skewers: After marinating, thread the shrimp onto skewers, ensuring to include some of the minced garlic and herbs from the marinade on the shrimp to maximize flavor.
Preheat Grill: Heat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat until hot and ready for cooking.
Grill the Shrimp: Place the shrimp skewers on the hot grill and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side. Grill until the shrimp turn pink and opaque, indicating they are fully cooked.
Serve: Remove the shrimp skewers from the grill and place them on a serving plate. Spoon the remaining reserved marinade over the shrimp for an extra burst of flavor before serving.
Notes
Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before threading to prevent burning on the grill.
Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to control spice level according to preference.
Serve with a side of grilled vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
For quicker cooking, shrimp can be cooked in a grill pan indoors if you do not have an outdoor grill.
