This Creamy Tuna Pasta with Peas is a quick and comforting meal perfect for busy weeknights. Tender pasta is combined with sautéed garlic, sweet peas, creamy half and half, rich Parmesan cheese, and flaky albacore tuna to create a luscious, savory dish that comes together in just 25 minutes.

Ingredients

Pasta

  • 8 oz. pasta

Sauce and Vegetables

  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Protein

  • 12 oz. can solid Albacore tuna, drained

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until tender according to package instructions. Drain the pasta using a colander and set aside.
  2. Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the butter and minced garlic. Sauté for about one minute until the garlic is soft and fragrant, careful not to brown it.
  3. Add Peas: Stir in the frozen peas and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Continue cooking for 2-3 minutes until the peas are heated through.
  4. Simmer Half and Half: Pour the half and half into the skillet and bring it to a gentle simmer. Stir frequently to prevent a skin forming or scorching. Let it reduce slightly over 3-5 minutes.
  5. Combine Pasta and Cheese: Add the drained pasta back into the skillet. Sprinkle the shredded Parmesan cheese on top and stir to combine, allowing the cheese to melt into the sauce. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed, then turn off the heat.
  6. Add Tuna: Fold in the drained tuna gently to maintain flake texture. Serve the creamy tuna pasta warm and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use half and half for a creamy texture; you can substitute with whole milk for a lighter version, but the sauce may be less rich.
  • To keep the tuna chunks intact, fold gently when mixing into the pasta.
  • Feel free to add a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness before serving.
  • Fresh peas can be used in place of frozen; adjust cooking time accordingly.
  • This dish reheats well and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
