This easy-to-make dessert offers a delightful blend of warm cinnamon flavors and creamy sweetness in every bite, perfect for gatherings or a family treat.

Ingredients

Base and Filling

  • 16 ounces refrigerated crescent rolls (2 packages, 8 ounces each)
  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened (2 blocks)
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

Topping

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup (e.g., Hershey's)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350˚F (175˚C) to ensure it is ready for baking the bars evenly.
  2. Prepare the cheesecake filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup white sugar, vanilla extract, and the egg. Beat these ingredients together using a mixer or by hand until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy with no lumps.
  3. Assemble the crust and filling: Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish thoroughly. Press the first package of crescent rolls into the bottom of the dish, making sure to cover the surface completely and seal the seams to form the base crust.
  4. Spread the filling: Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture over the crescent roll base, ensuring to cover it fully for an even cheesecake layer.
  5. Add second crust layer: Cover the cream cheese filling with the second package of crescent rolls, pressing the edges to seal and form the top crust.
  6. Prepare the topping: In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and 1/4 cup sugar. Brush the melted butter generously over the top crescent roll layer, then evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over it to create the signature churro flavor.
  7. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the bars are set and golden brown on top.
  8. Finishing touches: Remove the bars from the oven and allow to cool slightly. Drizzle the chocolate syrup evenly over the top before slicing and serving for an added indulgent touch.

Notes

  • Ensure cream cheese is softened completely to avoid lumps in the filling.
  • Press crescent rolls seams tightly to prevent filling from leaking out during baking.
  • For a stronger chocolate flavor, warm the chocolate syrup slightly before drizzling.
  • Allow bars to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing to help them set properly.
  • These bars can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
