These Best Ever (Easy) Baked Meatballs are tender, flavorful, and simple to prepare. Made with lean ground beef, fresh seasonings, and a touch of parmesan cheese, they bake to perfection in the oven, making them a quick and delicious meal option or party appetizer.

Ingredients

Meatball Mixture

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup dried bread crumbs
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, finely grated
  • 3 Tbsp. ketchup
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. parsley, minced (or about 1/2 Tbsp. dried)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400ºF and prepare a large cookie sheet by spraying it with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly mix together the finely chopped onion, dried bread crumbs, minced garlic, egg, parmesan cheese, ketchup, salt, pepper, and parsley until well combined.
  3. Add Ground Beef: Gently add the lean ground beef to the mixture. Mix just until combined without overworking the meat to keep the meatballs tender.
  4. Form Meatballs: Shape the mixture into 1-inch balls using your hands and place them evenly spaced on the prepared cookie sheet.
  5. Bake: Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until they are browned on the outside and cooked through in the center.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the meat to keep the meatballs tender and juicy.
  • Use lean ground beef for a healthier option and less grease during baking.
  • You can substitute fresh parsley if preferred, or use dried parsley as noted.
  • For added flavor, consider serving with your favorite marinara sauce.
  • Meatballs can be frozen after shaping; bake directly from frozen by adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
