Ingredients

Filling

  • 1 (16-oz) can BUSH'S® Traditional Refried Beans
  • 1/2 cup chunky salsa
  • 1/4 medium onion, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Cheese

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese

Wraps

  • 4 (10-inch) flour tortillas (burrito-sized)

Optional Serving Suggestions

  • Guacamole
  • Sour cream
  • Favorite hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Heat the oven to 375°F and line a small baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and to catch any melted cheese or bean filling that might escape during baking.
  2. Prepare Bean Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the refried beans, chunky salsa, diced onions, smoked paprika, garlic powder, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Stir thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated. Taste the mixture and adjust seasoning with additional salt if desired.
  3. Mix Cheeses: In a separate medium bowl, toss together the shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses until evenly combined.
  4. Assemble Burritos: Lay one tortilla flat and spread about 1/4 cup of the cheese mixture in the center. Over the cheese, spread 1/2 cup of the prepared bean mixture evenly.
  5. Fold and Roll: Fold the bottom edge of the tortilla up over the filling, then fold the sides inward and roll the tortilla tightly from the bottom to form a burrito. Repeat this process for all four tortillas.
  6. Bake Burritos: Place the assembled burritos seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the tortillas are warmed through and slightly crisp on the edges.
  7. Serve: Remove from oven and serve warm with optional sides such as guacamole, sour cream, and your favorite hot sauce for added flavor and creaminess.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add chopped jalapeños to the bean mixture or sprinkle hot sauce inside the burritos before rolling.
  • Use whole wheat or gluten-free tortillas if preferred to suit dietary needs.
  • To save time, you can prepare the filling ahead of time and assemble burritos when ready to bake.
  • Leftover burritos can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
  • Adding fresh cilantro or diced tomatoes inside the burrito can enhance freshness and flavor.
