Perfect for parties or quick snacks, they are cooked quickly in the air fryer, ensuring juicy meat with a slightly crispy exterior.

Ingredients

Chicken and Seasonings

  • 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • Wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes

Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1 ¼ cups (290 g) mayonnaise
  • ⅔ cup Thai sweet chili sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Sriracha (or more to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons honey

Instructions

  1. Toss chicken with seasonings. In a large bowl, combine the cubed chicken breasts, olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Toss everything together until the chicken is evenly coated with the seasonings.
  2. Thread chicken onto skewers. Working one skewer at a time, thread 4-5 pieces of the seasoned chicken cubes onto each soaked wooden skewer, ensuring they are evenly spaced for even cooking.
  3. Make bang bang sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Thai sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, and honey until fully combined. This will yield about 1 ¾ cups of creamy and spicy bang bang sauce.
  4. Brush sauce over chicken. Divide the bang bang sauce into two portions. Use half of the sauce to generously brush all sides of the chicken pieces on each skewer, coating them thoroughly.
  5. Place chicken skewers in air fryer. Arrange the coated chicken skewers in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Depending on your air fryer’s size, you may need to cook in batches to avoid overcrowding.
  6. Air fry the chicken skewers. Cook the chicken at 400°F (204°C) for 11-12 minutes, flipping the skewers halfway through to ensure even cooking. The chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  7. Drizzle cooked chicken with reserved sauce. After cooking, transfer the chicken skewers to a serving plate and brush or drizzle them with the remaining bang bang sauce for extra flavor and moisture.
  8. Serve immediately. These skewers are best enjoyed hot off the air fryer as a tasty appetizer or light meal accompaniment.

Notes

  • Soaking wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes prevents them from burning during cooking.
  • Adjust the level of Sriracha in the sauce to control the spiciness according to your taste.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, these skewers can be grilled or baked in an oven at 400°F for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Ensure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F to guarantee it is fully cooked and safe to eat.
